Stiffed at Station’s Green Valley Ranch Casino

by Michael - Washington State

At first I thought “what a great idea” about the Station Casino’s all property “Jumbo Jackpot” program that rewards all slot club members who are playing with their card in a slot machine with $50.00 at the time the random jackpot goes off.
On one of my many trips to the Green Valley Ranch Casino the Jumbo Jackpot was near its maximum of $150,000 being at about $147,000.  So at 1am I made my way to the casino to play for a while in hopes the jackpot would go off.  Within 30 minutes of my playing it hit, not for me but for some lucky player.  So I waited for a minute or so to get my free $50 but no credits showed up.  So, I cash out, got my ticket for my credits and found a floor person to help me.

They returned to the machine I was playing and said that I had no money coming.  Innocently I asked how can that be since I was playing when the Jumbo hit and I even had a ticket for $71 and change time stamped to prove it.
That is when things went south.  I was basically accused of trying to scam them by putting money in after the jackpot hit then quickly cashing out.  Being from the casino industry I knew the slot tracking system would prove otherwise since it tracks card-in and card-out events to the second.  I then asked if they could check the card-in / out history and they informed me that I would need a host for that.  “So where do I find a host?” I asked.  The response, “you don’t, there are none here at this time of night.”  “How about a supervisor?” same response.

Now I am not a big player by any stretch but I do make an annual deposit of more than just a few thousand dollars a year at Green Valley Ranch; well at least for the past few years, but no more.  In a courteous but firm voice I said that this was no longer about a $50 decision but more one of keeping a $5,000 to $10,000 player.  The final and last response, “I can’t help you sir.”
I smiled went back to my room and emailed marketing at the property with the story.  After 2 weeks and no response I decided that Green Valley Ranch would rather save lose me as a customer than treat me like one.
Well at least the Golden Nugget and Wynn properties still love me.
